33 Weeks
From Baby Center: This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood. As your baby fills out even…

Advice for the Parents-to-be
Thanks to all of you who already wrote down a bit of advice for us at the Big Baby Bash. For those of you who weren’t there, feel free to leave us a bit of advice in the comments that you think might help us as we embark on this new adventure! I’ll add it to Van’s baby book so we can look back on it later on π

32 Weeks
From Baby Center: By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You’re gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he’ll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth. To accommodate you and your baby’s growing needs,…

Van’s Photo Shoot
The entire family came down on Friday for our little guy’s 4D Ultrasound. We had a full house with me & Kenny, my parents, Kenny’s parents, Uncle Eric & Auntie Sheree, Uncle David, Auntie Jamie & Cousin Jeffrey and my grandparents- Mema & Grandpa Earl. Although I drank 3 glasses of coke before the ultrasound, Van was dead asleep and wouldn’t wake up for anything. He was still in the breech position and his little feet and hands were up covering his face. After a bottle of water and some stretching on the floor (with the entire family watching!) I laid back down to try again, but he is a…

New Design: The Young Mommy Life
Tara is a 20-something momma who blogs about The Young Mommy Life. She contacted me a few weeks ago and wanted to update her blog to WordPress.org as well as freshen up her look. She was great to work with and Iβll most likely be frequenting her blog quite often as my very own mommy life is about to start in a few weeks!

31 Weeks
From Baby Center: This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He’s probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby’s kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy. Have you noticed the muscles in your uterus tightening now and then? Many women feel these random contractions…

New Design: OutDoor Afro
Rue over at OutDoor Afro has one goal in mindβ¦ to get more African American families out of the house and into the Great Outdoors! She is obviously an outdoor enthusiast and an adventurous spirit and I tried to capture that in her new design. I had a great time working with her and the design was so much fun to work on. From Rue: First off, WOW β it was so thrilling to see how you materialized the concept in such a fun and accurate way to my description. You simply did a terrific job and I can see that working with you was the right choice. I really…
