31 Days of Geocaching
Day 17 – International Geocaching Day! International Geocaching Day is celebrated around the world on the third Saturday of August. I was at work (again!) but today work took me to the Lake Tahoe / Reno area. This cache find was another spontaneous smart phone find but it fit into my “I don’t want to find any foliage caches for a while” profile. This cache was found in Nevada on my way from Truckee to Reno. It was a quick find just outside one of my favorite stores (ergo the cache namesake). SPOILER ALERT: Cache container and location revealed!

International Space Station Sighting
I was staring up at the beautiful night sky while I was out walking Pilot this evening and there it was! The International Space Station. It is very cool to witness. The ISS has the brightness of a shooting star but the motion of a satellite. Tonight it ventured into view from the northwest around 8:08 pm and I had a solid four minute viewing until it disappeared into the southeast. Geocaching Fun with Numbers, Dates and Times
For those of you who do not know, I am a geocacher. My wife is a cacher and our three year old son is a cacher. Our three month old has not yet come to love the sport. What is geocaching? A global GPS based adventure game of hide and seek! Google it for more details. Geocaching has provided me with hours and hours of free entertainment on the road, and being that I am on different roads quite often, I have found some very interesting places as a result of finding geocaches. As a family, we have found over 1400 geocaches in 40 states and a dozen different countries…
